Welcome to
Drifters Lodge is located in the heart of Cooper Landing, Alaska, right on the banks of the world-famous Kenai River. The small mountain town of Cooper Landing was initially settled as a frontier gold and trapping town. It has since transformed into a top destination for fishing trips in Alaska. Surrounded by mountains and national forest land, our lodge is a place where you can escape your regular routine and experience all the fishing and outdoor adventures available on the Kenai Peninsula, also known as Alaska’s Playground.
About
The lodge features picturesque riverside cabins, each with their own river and mountain views. Centrally located, we will become your home base to experience world-class fishing up and down all 82 miles of the Kenai River and its tributaries, as well as the Kasilof River and local lakes.
Our guided fishing trips give you the best chance to catch Alaska’s famous sportfishing species, including trophy rainbow trout, king salmon, sockeye salmon, silver salmon, dolly varden, and arctic grayling.

Guided
The variety of guided fishing trips will amaze you. We fish from late May through early October, and each month brings different opportunities. Runs of sockeye (red), coho (silver), and chinook (king) salmon are spread throughout the summer. Rainbow trout and dolly varden are great all season long.
Our guides fish the Kenai, Kasilof and Russian Rivers, plus a variety of smaller streams and alpine lakes. Many trips are boat-based, but others are hike-in or require float plane access. You might take a float plane to a nearby alpine lake for arctic grayling, or hike into a small, crystal clear stream to pick out trout and dolly varden behind spawning salmon. No matter the time of year, there is something special to discover.

Alaska is one of the premier destinations in the world for fishing trips, and the Kenai River showcases world class rainbow trout and salmon fisheries. During the main season from June to September, we feature fly fishing trips for trophy rainbow trout and dolly varden. We guide anglers in their pursuit of king, sockeye, and silver salmon. We explore less traveled alpine lakes and small streams. Fishing the Kenai is fun for all experience levels, whether you have just picked up a rod for the first time or have fished all your life.
As you plan your vacation, it helps to learn more about when and where the salmon are running, and when is a good time for different species and techniques. We have outlined some information about the fishing for reference, and we also encourage a phone call to our office if you really want to get into specifics! Techniques, river sections, tackle, and start times can all vary by the date.
