Alaska Fly Fishing

Discover the thrill of Alaska fly fishing, where crystal-clear rivers and abundant fish provide an unforgettable angling experience!

Premier Wilderness Adventures

The Kenai Peninsula offers fly fishing enthusiasts some of North America’s finest opportunities. From trophy rainbow trout in crystal-clear waters to aggressive silver salmon ready-to-attack surface flies, our rivers provide year-round fly fishing adventures in pristine settings

Upper Kenai River Fly Fishing

The Upper Kenai River represents the crown jewel of Alaska fly fishing. This pristine stretch flows gin-clear from Kenai Lake, creating perfect conditions for sight fishing to trophy rainbow trout. These magnificent fish, often exceeding 20 inches, cruise the pools and runs while readily taking well-presented flies.

After the June 11th opener, the Upper Kenai offers consistent action throughout the season. Spring finds rainbows actively feeding on salmon smolt and emerging insects. Summer brings excellent dry fly fishing during salmon fly hatches, while fall provides trophy trout opportunities as fish gorge themselves on salmon eggs and flesh.

Silver Salmon on the Fly

Starting in August, silver salmon enter our rivers in significant numbers, creating exceptional fly fishing opportunities. These aggressive fish readily take both surface and streamer patterns, often providing explosive strikes and acrobatic fights. Their tendency to hold in slower water makes them perfect targets for fly anglers of all skill levels. The Upper Kenai’s clear waters allow anglers to see fish for silvers, watching as they chase down swung flies or attack surface patterns. This visual aspect adds an extra dimension to the experience, making every cast exciting and potentially productive.

Sockeye Salmon Fly Fishing

While not traditionally considered fly fishing targets, our sockeye salmon provide unique opportunities for fly anglers. These chrome-bright fish respond well to specialized techniques, particularly during their epic runs in June and July. Our guides have mastered the methods to connect consistently with these hard-fighting fish on fly gear. The Russian River confluence area offers excellent walk-and-wade fly fishing opportunities for sockeye, with clear water allowing anglers to sight fish for their targets. While specialized, the traditional “Russian River flip” technique proves incredibly effective when mastered.
